Bowen State High School Chaplain – Dylan Grieve

Hi my name is Dylan Grieve and I am the new School Chaplain at Bowen State High School, My role as a school chaplain is to provide social emotional and spiritual support to students, staff and families in our school community. I also run in school programs, provide individual and group mentoring and in class support.

I would like to share with you about chaplaincy and what I do as a chaplain.

 Strength Young Men’s program Grade 8 & 9

 The Strength Program is a 10 week program that I run for a small group of boys from grades 8 & 9. The program has 3 foundational concepts which are Significance, Resilience and Courage with the following outcomes.

·        Identify themselves as valuable with much to contribute.

·        Build confidence, self-awareness and courage.

·        Develop decision-making and problem solving skills.

·        Understand they are able to have a positive influence in their world.

·        Identify personal desires to motivate them to set and achieve personal goals.

Impact Lunchtime program- Wednesday 2nd Break

Another program that has re-started this term is Impact Lunchtime program, which is on Wednesday 2nd break. Impact lunchtime program is a program that gives all students the opportunity to come together for games, activities and with a positive life message and application in a safe supported environment.

Breakfast program – Monday

Every Monday morning under D block I am cooking pancakes for all students and staff, providing food for those who didn’t have any breakfast and also for those who would like a little more. Everyone is welcome to come and try the best pancakes in town.
