School Based Youth Health Nurse - Brooke Renouf
Bowen State High School is serviced by a School Based Youth Health Nurse twice a week- Mondays & Tuesdays. During these days, the SBYHN can be located in A Block, no appointment needed, just knock and the SBYHN will be more than happy to see you.

 

A School Based Youth Health Nurse’s responsibilities include:

  • ​ Provide high standard, evidence-based nursing care to facilitate quality patient/client outcomes in accordance with Nation Safety and Quality Health Service standards, professional standards and organisational policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the prevention of illness and injury and maximise the positive health outcomes for students.
  • Provide information and education to students and families to promote their independence and control over their own health.
  • Provide an opportunity for students to access health information, advice, support, brief intervention and referral through confidential individual health consultations.
  • Working collaboratively with other school-based support personnel to assess and address the needs of students.
  • Planning or assisting in planning support programs that can help students achieve positive outcomes.

  • Sexual education and healthy relationships
