The school tuckshop is operated by the school and managed by a Canteen Supervisor and Canteen Assistant with the assistance of casual staff. The tuckshop now provides a range of services to the school including catering for all internal professional development opportunities for state schooling staff and student workshops. All the profits generated by this enterprise are directed back to the school to improve educational outcomes for our students.
Our canteen offers a menu that has a variety of choice and healthy options and complies with Smart Choices – Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools. Our school has an important role in promoting healthy eating and physical activity to students and providing an environment that supports a healthy lifestyle. A healthy diet can improve behaviors critical to educational success and performance at school. Effective school-based nutrition and health interventions can also help improve academic performance. Our tuckshop is an important part of the school environment and models healthy food and drink choices that are tasty, interesting and affordable, and provide the means to put into practice nutrition messages taught in the classroom.
The tuckshop offers EFTPOS facilities and parents and carers can opt to take part in the Flexischools cashless system which uses the student card as a means for students to purchase food. It allows parents to monitor student spending at the tuckshop as well as the benefit of avoiding lost or forgotten cash.
