The library supports the
goals of the school and the curriculum by assisting students to become
independent, lifelong learners and by collaborating with teachers in the
development of appropriate teaching and learning strategies. It is open from
8am – 4pm Monday to Friday.
The library is popular with students who enjoy its facilities. The
library is a place where students access information in print and
electronic format, undertake and complete class work, read,
research and print as well as engage in alternative
activities (guitar, singing, computer and board games).
The library facilities
include teaching and learning rooms with data projectors, flat screen
televisions, a dedicated senior area, research and teaching areas and 2
fully-equipped computer laboratories - all within a flexible, learning
environment. HUB is held in the library from 3pm – 4pm from Wednesday and Thursday. HUB is a teacher supported
after-school tutoring program for all students.
The library has a
comprehensive collection of up-to-date print resources as well as online
resources including databases. The library intranet enables easy access
to these online resources.
The library staff support
students in reading, developing skills in information literacy
and technology and promoting lifelong learning. Reading is strongly encouraged as a
worthwhile leisure activity and as part of the Australian Curriculum as
students have access to the latest releases in fiction publications and
magazines. The library reading program includes the promotion of Book Week and
Literacy Week activities and occasional author visits.
