Work experience

Bowen State High School has an extensive work experience program that allows students to gain industry experience with local businesses. The opportunities afford students a unique insight into their chosen career path and to gain valuable employable skills while still at school.

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships

Many students in senior schooling participate in a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT), which allows young people to train on the job in paid employment while completing nationally recognised training in the process.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) in industry has a significant role at Bowen State High School and is supported by the ILC Coordinator. The programmes are designed to provide practical skills and knowledge to ensure students have increased employment options available after school.

The ILC Coordinator provides assistance and guidance in all areas, including work experience and SATs.
