The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 7 and 9 at Bowen State High School. NAPLAN was first introduced in 2008 and transitioned to fully online testing in 2022. NAPLAN online tests include a range of question formats and interactive features to support students with accessibility tools and tailored testing.
NAPLAN assesses the sorts of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. These skills include reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy. The assessments are undertaken nationwide in March.
NAPLAN is made up of tests in the four areas (or 'domains') of:
- reading
- writing
- language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
- numeracy.
