School chaplain – Dylan Grieve
Hi my name is Dylan Grieve and I am the new school chaplain at Bowen State High School. My role as a school chaplain is to provide social emotional and spiritual support to students, staff and families in our school community. I also run in school programs, provide individual and group mentoring and in class support.
I would like to share with you about chaplaincy and what I do as a chaplain.
Strength young men’s program Grade 7's
The Strength program is a
10 week program that I run for a small group of boys in grade 7. The program
has 3 foundational concepts which are significance, resilience and courage with
the following outcomes.
Identify themselves as valuable with much
Build confidence, self-awareness and
Develop decision-making and problem solving
Understand they are able to have a positive
influence in their world.
Identify personal desires to motivate them
to set and achieve personal goals.
Connect lunchtime program - Friday 2nd break
program that I run at the school is connect which is a lunchtime program that
is on Friday 2nd break. Impact lunchtime program is a program that gives all
students the opportunity to come together for games, activities and with a
positive life message and application in a safe supported environment.
Boys two Men - Wednesday after school
two Men is a boys program that I run on Wednesday afternoon which is based
around sports. Within this program we play various types of sports which help
promote teamwork, healthy eating and fitness.
Breakfast program - Monday
Monday morning under D block I am cooking pancakes for all students and staff,
providing food for those who didn’t have any breakfast and also for those who
would like a little more. Everyone is welcome to come and try the best pancakes
