Bowen State High School caters for its Top Performing Students in mainstream classes using the Whole School Approach to Differentiated Teaching and Learning as well as the principles of the UDL Framework. In addition to this whole school approach, the school has recently implemented an Academy Program within its Junior Secondary - to foster and grow the academic potential of our Top Performing Students.
The Academy Program is designed for high performing academic students to support their intellectual development and help them reach their full potential. The program fosters the academic, social and emotional growth of students and allows high achieving and highly motivated students to be challenged and encouraged by their peers. Furthermore, the Academy Program aims to drive a culture of aspiration, success, and high academic achievement. Students are supported in developing the skills necessary for the 21st century. In the 21st century students will need to be:
• responsible global citizens.
The academy is underpinned by the skills needed to be successful in the 21st century:
• collaboration and teamwork
• personal and social skills
In addition, the Academy Program targets a STEAMED approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, Enterprise and Design.
