P&C

Our P&C meetings are held the 3rd Monday of the month (if it falls in school holidays meetings are not held) at 7pm sharp in the conference room of the administration block and usually finished by 8pm depending on the agenda. We welcome all new and existing members to come along and contribute to your child/s education. The meetings are very informative about what is happening with-in our school.

Our P&C is made up of a handful of people who volunteer their time. Time is precious and this is why our meetings run for approximately 1 hour and we hold 10 or less for the year – which equates to 10 hours for the year. For a school of over 600 students, we are struggling and need new committee members to help support the school.

The Tuckshop remains our main source of income for the P&C. If we didn’t have the support from the P&C committee we wouldn’t be able to assist in the provision of financial or other resources which benefits the students of our school. Without a P&C the school would not have a tuckshop, support sub committees such as the Friends of the Concert Band, participate in any school trips or hold any fundraising activities – discos

etc.

Flexischools is in place at the tuckshop – students’ school ID cards can be linked to your flexischools account which allows students to purchase from the tuckshop without the need for cash. Students can also pre-order online before school to avoid queues. We would like to encourage students to pre-order and pay with their ID cards as this helps the queues and gets the students served faster.

We look forward to meeting new faces at our P&C meetings – I challenge you to come along and see how informative they are. If you would like to know more about how to volunteer please email pandc@bowenshs.eq.edu.au. Come along and see what is happening in our school for 2017.

Through 2016, the P&C remained committed to assisting Mrs Prichard and her staff in achieving the best possible outcomes for students at Bowen State High School.

* $2,000 towards the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program, which rewards students who do the right thing at school.

*Special Education trip to the Challenge games in Townsville.

*Yr 12 Graphics trip to Brisbane.

* Funds towards prizes for Academic and Sports awards.

*Anzac day by supplying drinks.
